4-Hers hit Sawyerville for this year’s Innovative Ag tour

The Innovative Ag tour brought members to the Eastern Townships this year, with Sawyerville 4-H hosting over 40 members from March 13 to 15.

4-Hers were taken to seven different locations, with the first day starting at the Virgin Mady, a sugar shanty, followed by Ferme Sabot d’Or, a diversified farm with different plants, deer, ducks, and more. Ferme Breault et Frères is a third-generation dairy farm with 600 lactating cows and home to 1,060 animals; William Houde Ltée is a well-established Quebec company in supporting agricultural producers; and Keystone Livestock showcased their passion for Simmental Cattle. We ended Saturday night with dinner and a presentation by J-R Saucier Racing Team/TOGO Traction, a race-dog team and entrepreneur in dog-powered sports. On Sunday we visited the largest rainbow trout farming site, Ferme Pisicole des Bobines, and ended our weekend at Charpentier Holsteins, a dairy farm with seven Lely milking robots and an excellent reputation in breeding quality cattle.

A huge thank you to Sawyerville 4-H for planning and hosting this year’s Ag tour, and to all those who welcomed us into their homes to showcase their businesses.
