82-year-old drowns in Hemmingford

An 82-year-old man from Hemmingford drowned in a backyard pool on Saturday, July 27. He was found unconscious in the pool, where he was swimming alone, around 4 pm. He was pulled from the pool on Fisher Road and emergency services were called. He was declared dead in hospital later that evening.

Earlier this month, CBC reported that drowning deaths in Quebec had increased by 80% compared to last year. This marks the 39thdrowning death of 2019 in the province. (CH)
