A $1083 fine for speeding

A 29-year-old driver was fined $1083 after being stopped by police on Jan. 18.
The driver was arrested as part of a police operation against speeding on the Carr Sideroad in Godmanchester. According to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Ingrid Asselin, police officers from the MRC du Haut Saint-Laurent station clocked his vehicle travelling at over 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
The driver, a Saint-Anicet resident, was issued a ticket for an excessive speeding offence, for a total of $1083. As this was his first offence, the driver was docked 10 demerit points in addition to having his driver’s licence suspended for a period of seven days.
