A new role for Huntingdon MNA in Québec

Huntingdon MNA Carole Mallette has been named as a government assistant to Minister of Labour Jean Boulet.

Well-known in the region as a businesswoman and CEO of Usinages Mallette in Saint-Rémi before she launched her political career, Mallette will join Laporte MNA Isabelle Poulet and Ungava MNA Denis Lamothe as members of Boulet’s team of government assistants. Mallette will be assigned responsibilities specifically relating to the modernization of the construction industry.

In a press release issued by the Ministère du Travail, Boulet said the modernization of the construction industry is an important mandate, and he has been consulting with management and unions to find solutions for the past several months. “Given the scope of this important work, I am delighted to add an experienced person like Ms. Mallette to my team,” he said. Boulet is also the minister responsible for the Mauricie and Nord-du-Québec regions.

In expressing her gratitude for her new role, Mallette referred to the saying that “When construction goes, everything goes.” Mallette said she is very excited about the mandate as it involves a key economic sector in Quebec, and she will be working with both employers and trade unions, noting the two groups will have to work together “so that Quebec, and more particularly its workers, can continue to progress.”
