The A30 Express has announced that toll rates to access the express route will increase as of February 1.
The new rate will be set at $2.30 per axle for a category-one vehicle, for a total of $4.60 per trip for a standard car. This represents an increase of 70 cents over the 2024 toll rate. For category-two vehicles measuring 230 centimetres in height or more, the rate will jump to $3.45 per axle.
According to the A30 Express, which manages the express route, the rate hike corresponds to an agreement with the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité Durable that adjusts the toll rates based on traffic volume. Traffic on the A30 surpassed 30,000 vehicles per day in 2024, which is more than 2,200 vehicles per day above the volume of traffic recorded in 2023.
The revenue generated by the tolls is used primarily to pay down the debt incurred during the construction of the A30 and for road maintenance. A portion of the revenue is also paid to the transport ministry above a certain threshold.
A30 Express transponders are available to drivers free of charge. Owners of electric vehicles that are equipped with a green plate and a valid transponder will continue to benefit from free tolls in 2025. This measure is supported by the Quebec government’s electrification of transport program.
