The Huntingdon fire department responded to a call on the Henderson Bridge on April 24, after a mobile crane became tangled in hydro wires while attempting to cross the span with a raised boom.
The fire department responded immediately to the call, which came in at 4:01 p.m. Firefighters closed off access to the bridge entirely, while the electricity to the line was cut for public safety reasons. Traffic was detoured to the Walker Bridge.
Over 1,925 addresses were affected by the power outage, including sections of Huntingdon, Hinchinbrooke, Elgin, and Godmanchester.
A Hydro Quebec crew was on the scene by 4:45 p.m. to extricate the truck from the cables. (SR)
