September 20 will mark the 43rd edition of the Action Day Against Sexual Violence Against Women (JACVSFF) across Quebec.
Locally, the JACVSFF committee, which includes representatives from organizations including L’Accueil pour Elle, Calacs La Vigie, the Centre de Femmes La Moisson, d’Main de Femmes, Hébergement La Passerelle, Résidence Elle du Haut-Saint-Laurent, and La Sortie, is inviting the community to once again become involved by taking action against sexual violence.
Last year, at least 150 signs and 500 bilingual flyers featuring a QR code were distributed throughout Beauharnois-Salaberry, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and the Haut-Saint-Laurent. The QR code, which was scanned over 2,500 times, directed viewers to a site aimed at addressing aggressors.
This year, another QR code has been generated, but instead of addressing those who engage in violence, the message is aimed at encouraging the general population to become an ally and take a stand against sexual violence. (SR)
