April ended up pretty close to the ten-year average, a bit wet on the precipitation side and not a lot of green on the trees for the handover to the month of May.
The month ended as close to normal as you can get with an average temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, which is slightly higher than the normal average of 6.5 C. This belies the fact that there were a few wild swings in temperature throughout the month, which started with a nighttime low of -9 C and ended with a daytime high of 28 C, and lots of ups and downs in between.
April also ended up being wetter than the previous months in 2025 with a total of 96 millimetres of rain, 3 centimetres of snow (which melted down to 3 mm of water) for a total of 99 mm of precipitation. This is almost 20 per cent higher than normal.
The arrival of May brings to a close the snowfall count for the 2024-2025 winter (November to April). There was snowfall in each month for a total of 206 cm of the white stuff, most of which fell in January and February. This compares to 143 cm in 2023-2024.
The average temperature for May is 14.3 C, and the average for the first few days was 12.0 C. The month is forecast to be cool with the majority of daytime highs below normal, but not excessively wet. So far for 2025, the average temperature is 0.2 C above average, and average precipitation (rain and melted snow) is 90 per cent of normal.
