The first week of November was almost as warm as October when it should have been getting colder. The average temperature during the first week plus a few days for the month was 8.4 degrees Celsius, almost six degrees above the normal of 2.9 C. The daytime high on November 6 was just shy of 23 C, and the nighttime low was 2 C higher than the average daytime high for the same date. Warm was the word.
There were just five millimetres of rain during the first nine days, continuing the dry trend that started in September. Precipitation is now only 20 per cent of normal for November, and only 55 per cent of normal for September, October, and November to date. The tile drains have finally stopped running after almost a year of continuous flow, but the dry conditions have been a boon for the corn harvest, which has proceeded rapidly, and conditions are good for field work of all kinds.
The forecast for the remainder of the month is somewhat cooler after Remembrance Day, although nighttime lows will continue to be above-average throughout. There will be precipitation during each of the remaining weeks, but aside from a couple of days of inclement weather during the last two weeks of the month, nothing out of the ordinary is expected. There may be a few flakes of snow here and there – if the temperature drops sufficiently.
