October continued with very warm weather, almost summerlike, even though the average temperature dropped 1.5 degrees Celsius from the first week – that’s how warm it’s been. The average temperature for the month to date now stands at 12.1 C, down from 13.7 C the week before, but still way above the normal of 9.4 C.
The lack of precipitation continued with only 1.5 millimetres of rain in the past week, bringing the October total to 10 mm, which is less than 25 per cent of normal. Since August, there has been only half the amount of precipitation that we should normally expect.
That’s all about to change – the remainder of October is forecast to be cooler (close to normal) and much wetter with frequent bouts of rain and showers.
