Chateauguay Valley Weather Week of January 19-25, 2020

By Peter Finlayson
Ormstown Weatherman

Despite a few cold mornings in the past week, January continues to be mild compared to the norm.

Average temperature for the week was -4.8 degrees, slightly cooler than the previous week at -4.0 degrees but still much milder than the normal of -8.6 degrees.

Precipitation was minimal for the week, which was good given that the first two weeks of the month had already filled the quota. There was 5.5 mm of rain and 3 cm of snow for a total of 8.2 mm of precipitation.

The remainder of January and February are forecast to be cool but not cold with a few daytime highs around zero but the nighttime lows will be -15 degrees at worst. Snowstorms are forecast for the end of the second and third weeks of February.
