The spring Smile Cookie campaign at the Huntingdon Tim Hortons raised just under $17,500 for the La Bouffe Additionnelle food pantry. The week-long fundraiser, which took place from April 27 to May 3, raised the fifth highest amount of all the Tim Hortons restaurants in the greater Montreal region, and topped last year’s efforts by nearly $3,485.
This year’s campaign included a special event at the Brasserie Barabas in Sainte-Barbe, as well as several special guests who helped ice smiley faces onto cookies. “Between the conversations, the volunteers, the partners, the families in attendance, and everyone who came to cheer us on, we felt an entire community joining us in our mission to make a difference,” said the restaurant’s general manager Dan Lajeunesse, who also serves as vice-president of the board of directors at La Bouffe Additionelle. “This campaign reminds us that, together, small acts can have a huge impact,” he added in a social media post.

Marine Mailloux, the director of La Bouffe Additionnelle, noted the funds will be used to support food assistance, cooking workshops, and community projects, as well as their services which are offered across 15 municipalities. “Every cookie purchased represented much more than a cookie. It represented kindness, solidarity, and hope,” she said. (SR)
