Cookies sold to support La Bouffe Additionnelle

The first edition of the Holiday Smile cookie campaign for the Huntingdon Tim Horton’s restaurant was a sweet success. The campaign ran from November 18-24, and by mid-week, over 2,500 cookies had been gobbled up. At least $2,000 worth of cookies were sold during the day on November 22.

A portion of the price of each cookie sold will go directly to support the La Bouffe Additionnelle food pantry as it prepares to deliver at least 400 Christmas baskets to those in need across the Haut-Saint-Laurent. Already, over 325 individuals and families have registered to receive a basket, which suggests demand is high.

Throughout the week, special guests stopped by to help ice cookies and purchase boxes by the dozen, including Huntingdon mayor André Brunette, Salaberry-Suroît MP Claude DeBellefeuille, as well as Mathieu St-Cyr, the senior manager of regional marketing for Tim Horton’s in Quebec, and Maggie Duchesne of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

“We are truly touched by the community’s overwhelming support,” says Sylvie Racette, the director of La Bouffe Additionnelle.

On December 7, the food pantry will be hosting the first edition of the Guignolée de la Bouffe Additionnelle. The centre will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Locals can bring donations of non-perishable food items to 4 Lorne Street.

The event will coincide with the town of Huntingdon’s annual door-to-door collection of food items, which can be left by the main entrances of houses before 10 a.m. Members of the fire department and volunteers will be collecting the goods. (SR)
