Around 100 students returned to school on April 14 after the Centre de Services Scolaire de la Vallée-des-Tisserands (CSSVT) announced it would once again be offering French language courses at the Centre de Formation Générale des Adultes des Tisserands (CFGAT).
Following the resumption of provincial government funding, francization courses are now available to students in both full-time and part-time formats. The classes were abruptly stopped on November 29 after the program funding ran dry.
The classes are being offered during the day and in the evening at CSSVT service points in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and in Huntingdon.
“The return of French language training is good news for the regional community,” says the CSSVT’s director general, Suzie Vranderick. “Thanks to the expertise of our dedicated staff, we are able to offer high-quality support tailored to the needs of learners,” she adds.
The courses are provided for free to immigrants and to Canadian citizens through Francisation Quebec, a government-mandated agency run through the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation, et de l’Integration.
