A Grade 10 student at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School has been crowned queen of the 18th edition of the St. Patrick’s Day parade set to take place this Sunday in Chateauguay.

Madison Chandler was appointed to lead the royal court, following a public speaking contest held by the Chateauguay and Valley Irish Heritage Association that took place on February 18.

A dedicated Irish dancer, Chandler is the youngest individual to serve as queen of the traditional parade. Since her coronation, she and her two princesses have been making public appearances around Chateauguay and even walked in the Montreal parade last Sunday.

The parade in Chateauguay will return following a two-year absence on March 26. Parade-goers are invited to extend their celebrations of Irish heritage by lining Boulevard D’Anjou for the start of the parade at 1 p.m. (SR)
