Claude DeBellefeuille, the MP for the Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent riding, was recently given new responsibilities within the Bloc Québécois and the House of Commons. On Sept. 24, she was elected vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. She has also become the Bloc Québécois’s spokesperson for veterans affairs.
About this new chapter, DeBellefeuille said, “I am honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility. Veterans have served with courage and dedication, and I am committed to defending their interests and ensuring their concerns are heard in the House of Commons.”
As well, DeBellefeuille succeeds Xavier Barsalou-Duval as co-chair of the transpartisan maritime caucus, a group of parliamentarians working to promote issues facing maritime transport and port infrastructure.

“I had the privilege of working with my colleague Xavier Barsalou-Duval to establish this caucus. I am very pleased to have been chosen by my colleagues in the Bloc Québécois to take on this role as co-chair.” said DeBellefeuille. “This caucus is a valuable tool for advancing issues affecting regional ports, such as the one in Valleyfield. We are always more effective when we work together, regardless of our political affiliation,” she added.
These new responsibilities are in addition to the work DeBellefeuille already does as the public safety critic for the Bloc Québécois. (CF)
