Emergency Preparedness Hub is now available to farming communities

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) has launched an Emergency Preparedness Hub, which brings together practical information and resources in one place to help farmers, farm families, farm workers, and farming communities.

The new hub was introduced in conjunction with Canadian Agricultural Safety Week, which took place from March 15-21, 2026.

The initiative was designed to help Canadian farms prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency situations. It contains tools developed by CASA as well as materials from other organizations, and links to provincial, national, and sector-specific resources.

“Canadian farms are workplaces, homes, and the backbone of our food supply chain, which is why emergency preparedness on farms isn’t an option – it’s essential,” said Sandra Miller, CASA’s executive director.

“CASA is proud to introduce the Emergency Preparedness Hub to help farmers proactively plan for emergencies. Because preparedness isn’t just about responding to emergency situations – it’s also about building resilient farms and farming communities.”

Canadian farms are increasingly facing more emergencies from natural disasters and climate change, making emergency preparedness an important focal point.

“As natural disasters become more frequent, severe, and unpredictable, the need for emergency preparedness on farms has never been greater,” said Miller. “Having clear plans and the right resources in place can make all the difference to help farmers protect their families, workers, animals, and livelihood when the unexpected occurs.”

The Emergency Preparedness Hub is available on CASA’s website at casa-acsa.ca/emergency-preparedness-hub. (SR)
