Mr Baird’s store was broken into on Monday night; entrance was effected by an office window which was pried up. The burglars used matches to light them in their depredations, and the remains of these were found in all parts of the store. So far as can be ascertained about $100 worth of goods has been taken, including a large quantity of kid gloves and knives.
The drunks of Sunday and every preceding Sunday, originate in the parish hotels, and it is, to say the least, unfair that the towns should be made to pay large sums for the maintenance of a police force to keep peace and order for the protection of its citizens through the loose license system of which the surrounding rural district avails itself.

MEMORIAL BELL INSTALLED IN UNITED CHURCH – Elder Family Donates 1000 Pound Bell With Inscriptions Thereon. – Shortly after the United Church at Huntingdon, Que., was burned on March 13th., last, Willie Munro, 8 years of age, said he was going to save up his money and buy a new bell and his little sister, Elsie, aged 5 years, said she would buy the rope. This was their theme of conversation for several days. It so impressed their mother, Mrs. W.J. Munro and their aunt, Miss Elder, that after due consideration they decided to donate the bell in memory of loved ones gone.

Doughnut Twin Tomato – Last week we reported in this newspaper having received a (Siamese) twin cucumber. This week up comes what appears to be a twin Tomato and added to this it is much the same as a doughnut. It is 3½ inches one way by 3 inches the other and two tomatoes appear to have grown together so there are two stalks, one on each side. Where the stalks are and right through the centre, is a hole as in a doughnut.

OF COURSE YOU’VE NOTICED – those huge signs advising out-of-province motorists that seat belts are now mandatory. Somehow we’re still hoping that our QPP will be about as interested in this law as the OPP.
