COVEY HILL: Reports from different points about last Tuesday [June 21, 1949] afternoon’s hurricane of wind and rain show that its course was from the northwest to southeast, considerable harm being done around Champlain, N.Y. Here at the Hill, very large trees were uprooted and apple trees were blown down. In more than one case, glass was shattered in doors or windows and electric wires blown down. The terrible wind tumbled off part of the apple crop previously injured by late frost.
