The Shoebox Project is to help the women’s shelter. We are helping by giving them things they need or that might help them.
We held hot chocolate sales at the Huntingdon Adult Education and Community Centre and Heritage Elementary to raise money. We also asked for donations from our Heritage families and local businesses.
As a class, we created lists of items to buy. We counted the amount of money we had. We worked in teams. Different teams had to buy different items for the boxes. With our lists, we went to the local Uniprix as a class, to purchase our items.
We put our purchases in boxes and bags. We made cards to include in every box. We also bought or received gift cards to include. We divided our purchases and wrapped them in different shoe boxes.
The representatives from Résidence Elle du Haut-Saint-Laurent came to get the shoe boxes. We hope to get to do this again next year.
