There is no shortage of options this year to add local products to your Christmas list, as over a dozen area markets and craft fairs are scheduled to take place in the run up to the holiday season.
The 44th edition of the annual Howick Craft Fair will take place on Saturday, November 16, starting at 9 a.m. at Howick Elementary School. The hybrid event will take place both indoors throughout the school and outdoors as well.
Archives Hemmingford will be holding an open house and artisan exhibition and sale on November 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. featuring at least 10 local artists and artisans. Refreshments will be served, and a fundraising draw will take place for a quilt by Dorothy Tobin Rohne will take place at 2 p.m.
The annual Marché de Noël in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield is set for November 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organized by Le Signature Valleyfield, the event will take place at 2 Rue Fabre, where visitors will find 45 talented vendors, as well as hot chocolate with marshmallows and a warm outdoor fire.
The Société Historique de Saint-Anicet will be opening its doors on November 16 and 17 for its annual Marché de Noël in partnership with the Cercle de Fermières from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Vendors will also be present at the Community Centre located in the church next door. The event will feature an indoor and outdoor Christmas activity for children 12 and under.
The Huntingdon County Farmers’ Market will hold the first of three Christmas markets at the Sociocultural Centre in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka on Sunday, November 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All three markets will feature area producers and local artisans with original gifts and food from the farm.
The Ormstown branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will host a Christmas market in partnership with Artisanat Jamestown Crafts on Saturday, November 23, starting at 10 a.m.
The annual Dundee Christmas Fair will take place on Friday, November 29, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, November 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the municipal town hall. All the profits from this year’s event will be donated to the Résidence-Elle du Haut-Saint-Laurent women’s shelter.
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield will host its annual Magie des Fêtes Christmas market on November 29 from 4 to 8 p.m., November 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on December 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gaétan-Rousse building (110 rue Mathias). Around 60 vendors will be present during the three-day event.
The annual Hemmingford Artisan Christmas Market will be held on Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the recreation centre. The market will include over 30 tables featuring handmade products from local vendors, as well as a raffle table. A light lunch will also be available.
The 12th edition of the Marché de Noël de Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague will feature over 35 vendors on Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between two halls at the Salle Éveline-Meloche and the Catholic church in the village.
The Huntingdon County Farmers Market will hold a Christmas market at the Recreation Centre in Ormstown on Sunday, December 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring over 40 of the finest local producers and artisans.
The Napierville and Saint-Cyprien Christmas market will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 262 Rue de l’Eglise in Napierville. The event will include special activities for children on both days, as well as a food truck, fireplace, and even a visit from Santa.
The municipality of Saint-Chrysostome will be holding a Christmas Market in collaboration with the Brûlerie des Barbus on Sunday, December 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the village community centre. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the guignolée (food drive). Some of Santa’s elves will be on hand with activities for children throughout the day.
The Huntingdon County Farmers Market will end its 2024 season with a final Christmas market at the community centre in Saint-Anicet on Sunday, December 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (SR)
