Members of the Huntingdon Optimist Club were joined by representatives from six area organizations and schools for a special supper at the Citron and Basilic restaurant on February 28, where over $7,000 in funding was distributed to the local groups.
The École secondaire Arthur Pigeon received just over $1,269, while the Fondation Arthur-Pigeon, which supports graduates from the Huntingdon-based high school as well as different school activities, received $500.
Heritage Elementary School was presented with a cheque for $1,000, while the École Notre-Dame de Huntingdon received $1,850 to go towards student activities.
The Little Green Library received a $1,500 donation, while the Services d’Accompagnement Bénévole et Communautaires (SABEC) was given $1,000 to go toward their services.
The Optimist Club will be holding its annual Easter egg hunt for area children on April 19 at the Huntingdon fairgrounds. A brunch fundraiser will also take place on May 25 at Citron and Basilic. (SR)
