I have been an avid birdwatcher for many years, and part of Project FeederWatch for 30 years! You can imagine how delighted I was to see an article on birds, let alone wondering where the evening grosbeaks are. I, too, have been asking the same question; even the people at Birds Canada vaguely say, “Oh, they’re around.” Not at my feeders! I have an abundance of cardinals now, and even a red-bellied woodpecker for the winter, but no grosbeaks. The mystery continues, though I think they may be in the deep evergreen forest, enjoying natural seeds which are usually in abundance. I hope so. I think they may be joined by pine siskins, redpolls, as I have not seen any so far this year.
I also really enjoyed the artwork of the birds. Mr. Goldfinch is already putting on his summer sweater!
Thanks for the article and I look forward to more!
