The Montérégie Star Program is an initiative that aims to highlight people who are going above and beyond to contribute to the health and well-being of regional English-speakers. Recently, a new group of winners was announced including two Valley residents who were recognized by the Regional Health and Social Services Partnership Table.
Lisa De Repentigny, who works at the Centre d’Hébergement du Comté de Huntingdon (CHSLD), was recognized as a recreation technician who is always thinking about meeting the needs of the residents. She works to build links with organizations offering services in English to ensure anglophone residents are included and their needs are being met. She received the award from Pauline Wiedow, the executive director of the Montérégie West Community Network (MWCN), and Frédéric Roiné, the manager responsible for the living environment at the Huntingdon CHSLD.
Julie Dahmé was acknowledged for her role as the human relations officer at the CLSC Huntingdon. She was recognized especially for her part in the Téléphoner pour Améliorer son Anglais program. Dahmé is fluently bilingual, and she took on the position of English-speaking partner to help her French-speaking colleagues who participated in the program. Dahmé also works to ensure those who come to the CLSC can receive services in English when required. (CF)
