The four local members of the Roses des Sables fundraising team proudly took part in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Vaudreuil-Soulanges on June 8. Diane Lazure, Jennifer Hooker, Marge Garceau, and Jacki Garceau more than doubled their initial goal of raising $5,000 for the cause, bringing in a total of $11,247 as of the start of the event. The team organized several fundraisers, including a successful Zumbathon in February and a golf tournament on June 1, as well as collecting personal donations. Organizers of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Relay for Life announced during the day of the event that just over $177,059 had been raised. The Roses des Sables team is still accepting donations online through the Relay for Life website, which will remain open until the end of August. (SR)
