The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent has announced it will invest $26,000 in funding for two area businesses.
Sacha Desautels and Andrée-Anne Talbot of the Ormstown-based Ferme du Chêne Blanc S.E.N.C. will receive $15,000 to develop their mushroom production through the Fonds de Soutien aux Entreprises.

The pair produces certified organic shiitake mushrooms that supply the regional network of family farms as well as large grocery stores.
According to a press release issued by the MRC, the blooming mushroom business reflects many of the MRC’s values and aspirations, including recognition for the crucial role of farmers in society.
The MRC has also provided $11,000 from the business support fund to Jill Rankin for the development of the Ateliers Brocante Bourgeon, which is located on Chateauguay Street in Huntingdon.

The products and services offered by Rankin include high-end vintage items, recycled and artisanal decorations, online sales, workshops including art therapy, upholstering, a line of recycled and personalized clothing, sewing classes, as well as the promotion of new designers and local artists. The business will also offer a rental service for events including dishes, utensils, accessories, and decorations.
