The Sûreté du Québec has identified the victim of a violent altercation that took place on Wellington Street in Huntingdon shortly after 9 p.m. on July 26.
According to Sergeant Jean-Philippe Ruel, the victim is Adam Aitkins (54).
Aitkens was unresponsive when officers arrived on scene. He was transported immediately to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Ruel confirmed that a suspect, a local man in his early thirties, was arrested soon after in connection with the altercation.
Officers questioned the individual overnight. He is due to appear at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on charges of second-degree murder during the afternoon of July 27.
