The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is launching a community-building cultural initiative this summer centered on making music accessible to everyone by highlighting the public pianos available in the region.
A new public piano will be unveiled this summer in the municipality of Ormstown at Lindsay-Cullen Park. Pianos are also installed at the municipal park in Sainte-Barbe, the town hall in Saint-Chrysostome, and Antoine-Labelle Park in Saint-Antoine-Abbé.
“With the public pianos, the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is launching a unifying cultural project that makes room for music, creativity, and citizen participation. This innovative initiative will bring our public spaces to life in a new way, in a spirit of discovery, community, and collective pride,” said MRC prefect and Franklin mayor Yves Métras.
A series of free artistic workshops will be offered in the host municipalities, including participatory music, traditional dance, floor painting, piano decoration, and skateboard painting will enrich the public piano experience while offering residents a unique opportunity for connection and creativity.
Three events will take place within each municipality between the end of June to early August. The participatory workshops will be led by local artists Vicky Donnon, Angela Neal, Audrée Bourdeau, and Manon Béatrice Gauthier, along with several special guests who will share their diverse expertise through an inclusive, creative approach during the different activities.
