The Monteregie West Community Network’s Hemmingford office held an open house on April 12. Several locals took advantage of the opportunity to tour the space located in the former St-Andrew’s United Church in the village. The office shares space with the Service d’Action Bénévole (SAB) community organization, and includes La Pantry, a food waste reduction initiative, and a community closet offering gently used clothing for all ages, as well as games and toys for children.

MWCN outreach coordinator Tina Calvarese says she and SAB coordinator Anne Healey enjoy working together and collaborate to “ensure we don’t duplicate the services being offered.” The SAB works mainly with the senior population while the MWCN focuses more on youth initiatives. “We try to accommodate everyone,” says Calvarese. The MWCN Hemmingford office is open four days a week, from Monday to Thursday. More information about their services can be found online at: mwcn.ca. (SR)
