The nomination period for the byelection set to take place in the municipality of the township of Havelock to fill councillor seat number two is now open.
The seat was left vacant following the resignation of Philippe Bourdeau, who left council to run for mayor in the November 20 byelection that was prompted by the sudden resignation of the former mayor, Stéphane Gingras.
Candidates for the position may file their nomination papers at the town hall with Mylène Vincent, the director general and returning officer for the election, before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27.
In the event more than one candidate steps forward for the position, a byelection will take place on Sunday, February 26, with an advance polling day on Sunday, February 19. (SR)
