One dead and two injured following a head-on collision

A 33-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision that injured two others in Sainte-Clotilde Monday evening.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Route 209 when one of the two vehicles deviated from its lane.

SQ spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay said two men were in the vehicle travelling southbound. The driver, a 33-year-old from Saint-Chrysostome, died. The 29-year-old passenger was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a woman in her early 20s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The accident occurred along a section of the highway where the speed limit is set at 80 km/h. The SQ says it remains unclear which of the two vehicles deviated from its lane.

The highway was closed following the accident. An investigation is underway.
