On February 7, Ormstown Elementary School (OES) started Option Clubs for kids from K4 to Grade 6. This activity continued for four weeks every Friday afternoon and ended on February 27.
These activities were organized and run by volunteers and staff members. Students picked two Option Clubs of their choice. The clubs offered were Lego and Robots, Maker Space, Circus and Contemporary Dance, Boom-Whackers, Science, Clay, Indigenous Arts and Crafts, Outdoor Education, Hip Hop, Volcano Club, Nature Painting, Bracelet Club, Curling, and Board Games.
“It went quite well and there was positive energy in the air,” says Principal Jessica Mackay. In this year’s Option Clubs, there were eight volunteers running the clubs. “We are excited to keep on running Option Clubs,” Mackay says. For Ormstown Elementary students, it was something to look forward to on Friday afternoons. “It was interesting and fun to learn new things,” says 11-year-old LilyRose Loiselle.
