Ormstown winger named RSEQ rookie of the year

Young man stand in a sports field holding two certificate at his side.Alexandre Laurendeau of Ormstown has been named the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) first team all-star and rookie of the year, following a stellar debut season with the McGill Redbirds rugby team. The winger was also named the RSEQ athlete of the week on November 8 after scoring a pair of tries, including the game-winning major in the Redbirds RSEQ championship win against Ottawa on November 4. The team will now travel to British Columbia to play in the Canadian National University Championships tournament from November 30 to December 4.

The 21-year-old graduated from Chateauguay Valley Regional High School in 2018. Following this, he attended the CEGEP de Valleyfield where he graduated with a DEC in administration and management. He is now in his first year studying labour and industrial relations at McGill. (SR)
