1949-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Orr, on June 25, 2023, the day after his 74th birthday at the CHCH in Huntingdon, where he fought a courageous battle with cancer and endured his illness with positivity.
Barry was the beloved husband to Susan Buchanan, adoptive father to Debbie (Rick Fosher), loving step dad to Dawn (Christophe Lamoureux), Joanne (Scott Whittingstall), Grant (Jessica Chartrand). Barry will be deeply missed by his siblings Ken, Janie (Bill Beaudin), Kathy and his siter-in-law Veronica, as well as brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Ron (Karen), Rick (June), Sandra (Raymond), the late Sherri. He also leaves to mourn many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mac and Ruth Beattie and his brother Bill.
Barry loved the outdoors, that includes fishing, icefishing, golfing and just hanging out with his friends. Barry was a proud member of the Legion. In his early years, we was a volunteer fireman in Hemmingford. Barry worked at Beattie’s, Cam’s and Steinberg’s. His last place of work was for Leahy’s.
A heartful thank you to Dr. Hébert and Dr. Djandji, and also the wonderful staff of the CHCH in Huntingdon, as well as the staff at the Barrie Memorial Hospital. Both places provided him with the best care, kindness and compassion. We are forever grateful.

The visitation will be followed by a graveside service at the Hemmingford Protestant Cemetery. Also, a small gathering will take place at the Legion for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Huntingdon County Hospital.
