Parc Safari’s longtime owner and president, Jean-Pierre Ranger, is stepping down after more than 20 years with the Hemmingford-based zoo and amusement park.
According to a report by the Coup d’oeil, the park’s new owner is the Luxembourg-based company Batipart, which invests in real estate, tourism, and hotel projects in Europe, North America, and Africa. The family-owned business also owns Parc Omega in Montebello.
An official announcement has yet to be made, but Parc Safari’s new general manager, Serge Lussier, told the Coup d’oeil the company was in the planning stages.
Lussier, who previously worked at Parc Safari, said last year’s employees would be recalled and a recruitment event for the upcoming season will be organized.
Ranger told the Coup d’oeil that he had not been able to find a buyer in Quebec, but he was satisfied with the transaction, noting it was “in the region’s interest.” (SR)
