Cyclist struck by vehicle in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka

A 41-year-old cyclist has died after being struck by a car on June 22 in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka. According to a report by the Agence QMI, the accident occurred around 2 p.m. on Route 236 while the cyclist was attempting to cross the road. The driver of a sedan, a woman in her fifties, was unable to avoid striking the cyclist. She was not injured in the collision.

The road was closed following the accident while Sûreté du Quebec officers investigated the cause of the incident.

Car accident in Franklin

A motorist was gravely injured following an accident that occurred on the Montée Durocher near Chemin Demers in Franklin on June 20.

According to an article by the Agence QMI, the 40-year-old driver drifted out of their lane before colliding violently with a hydro pole around 8:30 p.m. The driver was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators were on the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.

Search and arrest in drug trafficking case

Police officers from the Beauharnois-Salaberry detachment of the Sûreté du Quebec arrested a 63-year-old man as part of a drug trafficking operation on June 20 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation that began in April 2024. Officers seized nearly four grams of cocaine, approximately 1,500 methamphetamine tablets, prescription drugs, and over 200 contraband cigarettes following the search of a residence on Denis Street. Officers, including the SQ’s dog handler, also seized approximately $1,360 in Canadian currency.

The man could face possible drug trafficking charges. (SR)
