Four are arrested in Valleyfield following police operation
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec’s Beauharnois-Salaberry detachment arrested four individuals as part of a police operation in connection with drug trafficking on May 13 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
Three suspects, a 38-year-old man, a 37-year-old man, and a 26-year-old woman, were taken into custody and appeared the following day at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse. A 20-year-old woman was also arrested but was later released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. All four individuals could face charges related to drugs and firearms, as well as offences under the tax and tobacco laws.
Officers conducted searches in two private residences on Madeleine Street and René-Vachon Square as well as in two vehicles. The operation led to the seizure of over 500 grams of cocaine, more than 500 methamphetamine tablets, a small amount of psilocybin and crack, as well as prescription drugs, and nearly 250 contraband cigarettes.
Officers also found a handgun, an air gun, a can of pepper spray, and several items related to drug trafficking, as well as over $4,500 in Canadian currency and over $100 in US currency.
The Sûreté du Québec’s tactical intervention unit also participated in the operation.
