Police arrest four in drug trafficking case

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers from the MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry detachment conducted an operation related to the trafficking of drugs in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield on May 22.

The operation, which involved raids at two residences on Wilfrid Street and Donald Street, stemmed from an investigation that was launched in February. A 61-year-old man and three women aged 27, 37, and 60 were arrested and later released. All four could face possible charges for drug-related offenses.

Officers seized over 35 grams of cannabis, more than 90 methamphetamine tablets, prescription drugs, and over 260 contraband cigarettes. The police also confiscated some Canadian currency, as well as an air gun.

Speeding in Valleyfield

SQ officers from the MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry station stopped the driver of a speeding vehicle on Highway 530 around 10:30 a.m. on May 19 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

The driver, a 64-year-old man from Valleyfield, was travelling at a speed of 193 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone. Officers issued a $1,714 speeding ticket and 18 demerit points. His licence was also suspended for a period of 7 days. (SR)
