Speeding in Ormstown and Valleyfield
Police officers from the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent detachment stopped a driver for speeding on Route 138 in Ormstown overnight on November 1. The driver, a man in his twenties, was caught travelling at 146 kilometres per hour in a 90 km/h zone. Officers issued a $1,089 ticket and 10 demerit points. The driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of seven days.
On November 2, officers from the MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry station intercepted a speeding vehicle around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 530 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The driver, a 36-year-old man from Laprairie, was clocked travelling at 166 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. He received a $1,338 fine and 14 demerit points. His driver’s licence was also suspended for a week. (SR)
