SQ asking for help to find Valleyfield couple
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is asking for the public’s help in finding Malcolm Bennett, 38, and Arielle Fortin, 27, of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
The pair was last seen on the evening of October 6, in Valleyfield. They were travelling in a grey 2013 Honda Fit with licence plate H94 YRW and a sticker across the rear window reading “Dépanneur Académie.”
According to the SQ, the families of the two missing people have reason to fear for their health and safety.
Malcolm Bennett is 5’10” and weighs around 160 pounds. He has red hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a dark coat, red sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes with white stripes down the side.
Arielle Fortin is 5’3” and weighs around 125 pounds. She has red hair and hazel-coloured eyes. She was last seen wearing a grey mid-length coat and black leather boots.
As of press time, the SQ was still asking for the public’s help. Anyone who has seen these individuals or their vehicle is asked to call 911. Any information that could help locate the pair can be reported confidentially to the Sûreté du Québec’s Centrale de l’information criminelle by calling 1 800 659-4264.
Officers crack down on drug trafficking in Valleyfield
On October 10, police officers from the SQ’s MRC de Beauharnois-Salaberry detachment conducted a drug trafficking operation on Maden Street in Valleyfield involving nearly a dozen police officers.
The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 300 methamphetamine tablets, over five grams of powdered methamphetamines, over 18 grams of crack cocaine, approximately one gram of cannabis crystals, more than 33 grams of dried cannabis, over three grams of hashish, and around 300 contraband cigarettes. Equipment related to drug trafficking, as well as three pellet guns were seized.
A man in his thirties and another in his forties were interviewed by police in connection with this operation. Both could face drug-related charges.
A week earlier on October 3, officers carried out a similar operation involving a residence on Saint-Louis Street in Valleyfield.
Following a tip received from the public, police arrested two men aged 24 and 46, as well as a 45-year-old woman, on drug-related charges.
During the operation, officers seized over 450 tablets of methamphetamine, over 100 grams of cocaine, more than 80 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms), as well as packages of contraband cigarettes. Over $5,000 in Canadian currency as well as drug trafficking equipment and certain assets were also seized as offence-related property.
Man charged with sexual offences against minors
Investigators from the Beauharnois-Salaberry station arrested a 48-year-old Salaberry-de-Valleyfield man on October 2 in connection with sexual offences committed against minors.
Yan Lecompte appeared later that day at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse where he was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, luring, making sexually explicit material available to a minor, production and possession of child pornography, exhibitionism, voyeurism, and criminal harassment.
The provincial police force deployed its serial crimes investigations unit in this case, as several victims have been identified. The alleged crimes took place between 2010 and 2023, and investigators suspect there could be more victims.
