Huntingdon MNA Carole Mallette hosted representatives from the Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ), including president Jacques Farcy, during a wine and cider tour featuring six local producers on June 20.
Mallette organized the tour to promote the production of different types of alcohol in the riding, which she feels deserves better recognition.
The tour started with a visit to the Les Bacchantes vineyard in Hemmingford, followed by stops at the nearby Chat Botté vineyard, the Cidrerie du Minot, and Petch Orchards. The tour then moved on to the Marathonien vineyard in Havelock before winding down at the Ferme Black Creek in Hinchinbrooke.
Several area wines and ciders are already available on SAQ shelves, and according to a press release issued by Mallette’s office, Farcy enjoyed the visit and the dialogue he was able to share with the different producers. (SR)
