This is Thumper. The energetic tuxedo cat was raised by his loving owner, Clarissa Leclerc, from the time he was a day old. He clearly enjoys boxes and, says Leclerc, he seems on occasion to think “He’s a can of root beer.”
This fantastic shot of Thumper is the wining photograph in the adult category of The Gleaner’s sixth annual Pet Photo Contest. We received 11 photographs of Valley pets for our contest in celebration of National Pet Day on April 11.
Second place winner is Jupiter, the piglet, was born on March 22. He was photographed peacefully dreaming of spring in this adorable photo.
Honourable mentions
The Gleaner’s panel of judges could not resist these handsome fellows. Liam Brooks posed with his rooster, Ricky. Though still a young rooster, Ricky loves to be petted. “I can hold him like a baby and stroke his chest – he loves it,” says Brooks.
This is Paris, the cat. Owner Maurene O’Farrell says she “loves to talk, try new foods, and has seven toes on each paw, making her a cat of many toes and many talents.”
Sonny, a vibrant tabby cat, was photographed by owner Adrien Doucette while enjoying the tranquility of the Chateauguay River before turning in for the night.
This dynamic duo, known as Muffin and Oreo, have been getting to know each other over the last 10 months. The pair were captured enjoying a moment together outdoors.
