Helen Smith, 91, passed away on February 4, 2023 at her retirement residence in Ottawa, Ontario.
Born in Ormstown, Quebec, to James Greer and Ann Cleland, she was the eldest of their three girls. Helen was predeceased by both of her sisters, Marion Merson and Margaret Stacey.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Karen (Ian) and Kathy (Jeff); grandchildren: Erin (Brandon) and Matthew (Caitlyn); as well as extended family members and life-long friends.
Living with Parkinson’s disease in her later years, she remained an independent and social individual who enjoyed all group activities, especially bingo!
Helen was honoured in a celebration of life on Saturday, February 11th at McGerrigle Funeral Home in Ormstown, Quebec. In the spring, a private interment service will be held at the Hemmingford Protestant Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, an organization she strongly supported. Helen believed that local health care makes a real difference to the people who live in the community.
