Young readers can blast off into space with the summer reading club at the Little Green Library in Huntingdon.
The library is combining with TD to present the reading club. The theme is “Space,” with new books and activities scheduled each week throughout the summer.
“We got to read the story and then we got to do a craft and I got a very cool sheet of paper that I made into a moon shape,” said an eight-year-old participant. “The book we read was Nora’s Stars by Satomi Ichikawa. It was amusing.”
Jesse Blanchard is the community animator for the library this summer. They are responsible for hosting the workshops every week.
The activities take place for children between 0-5 years every Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in French, and from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in English. The book club for young readers between the ages of 6 and 12 happens on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in French and English.
The workshops are free, and young readers who participate will receive a reader’s booklet, bookmark, and stickers. The schedule of book titles is available on the library’s Facebook page.
The library is also hosting a reading and activity tent every Wednesday at the Huntingdon County Farmers Market.
