Sunny tradition holds for Havelock Fair

It was all sunshine and smiles for the 155th Havelock Fair on September 12-13, bringing hundreds of visitors to one of the Valley’s most enduring fairs. Dating back to 1871, Havelock now blends modern-day fun with old time traditions over a two-day fair.

This year’s event featured a variety of animal shows, from heavy horses to the local 4-H cattle show, live music, children’ s races, antique cars and machinery displays, and numerous local artisans showcasing their talent.

One of the booths featured many homemade sweets made by the ladies of Hemmingford’s St. Andrew’s United Church. Carolyn Marlin and Cathy McAdam guarded the booth on Sunday, and explained that all their profits will be donated to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cancer Unit, and that all the goodies at their table were made with love by volunteers.

Nadeana Tannahill, the 2026 fair president, also gave a shout out to the countless volunteers on social media: “Without your hard work and dedication, this wonderful event simply couldn’t happen. Thank you all so much for taking time out of your busy lives to put together such a fantastic community tradition.”

She mentioned how pleased she was with the turnout and weather while noting that as more of the fair details become available online, such as the registration book, more people will be encouraged to enter the various classes in future editions.

Mark your calendars, the 156th Havelock Fair will take place on September 11-12, 2027.
