For over 40 years, it has been a tradition in Saint Anicet that the Optimist Club throws an annual Corn Festival. This year’s event will take place from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28, and offers a variety of activities and entertainment for guests.
The Festival will take place at Parc du Cercle des Loisirs Cazaville (2315 Montée Cazaville St-Anicet) and will have free parking for all attendees. The event will kick off on the Thursday at 5 p.m., with bingo night starting at 7 p.m. On Friday, 2frères will be performing at 8:30 p.m., with tickets being priced at $40. Saturday will be a packed day with kids’ activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., line dancing at 6:30 p.m., and the Power Play Rock Band at 8:30 p.m. (concert tickets are $15). You can also opt for a package deal, $50 for both shows. Finally, Sunday will feature a brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a canine circus.

Sylvie Tourangeau, one of the organizers of this event, shares that the weekend is of huge importance to the Optimist Club, because “It’s the only fundraiser we have … and it’s been happening for over 40 years … It helps us to give back to our community.” She also emphasizes that this event is always a lot of fun, and the response in past years has been really great. She adds, “Our goal for the future is continual growth,” and a fundraiser like this helps them achieve that.
