Plant sale
Grab some greenery! HAECC (24 York Street, Huntingdon) and CVCEC (46 Roy Street, Ormstown) will each host a plant sale from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 12. Boutique TO.US will also be open at HAECC.
Christmas Spectacular
Join the After-Hours Choir for a special evening of holiday music, poems, and a Christmas sing-along on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (33 Prince Street, Huntingdon). Proceeds will benefit La Bouffe Additionnelle and the CVR music program.
LBA Christmas Village
It’s still happening at the Ormstown fairgrounds on December 13 and 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Lights, music and holiday cheer, and don’t forget to bring your letter for Santa’s magic mailbox!
Mama Christmas
Mrs. Claus will be at Le Grenier De Zoe in Ormstown (55 Lambton Street) on December 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be stories and surprises, and it’s free. It’s nice to see the missus stepping into the limelight, for once!
Christmas concert
Noel en Musique takes place on December 14 at Eglise Saint-Chrysostome; doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is free for choral singing, and then music by folk musicians Les Vieux Bruyants.
Christmas market
On December 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Saint-Anicet Christmas Market will take place at the community centre located at 1560 St Anicet Street, featuring fantastic producers and artisans from the Haut-Saint-Laurent.
Bid on a handmade ornament
The MRC’s silent auction of handmade ornaments runs until December 15. They are still on display in the lobby of the MRC’s offices in the Chateau building (10 King Street) in Huntingdon, and instructions for bidding are posted there. The ornaments are all created by local artists, and all funds raised will be donated to the La Bouffe Additionnelle.
CVR Winter Gala
The CVR performing arts department presents holiday music, selections from Annie, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Footloose, and a sneak peak at Frozen, in a joyful 20th anniversary celebration! Tickets will be $12 at the school auditorium on December 17 at 8 p.m.
Another Christmas concert
There can never be too many. Chœur en Fugue comes back on December 20 at the Lac des Pins Campground stable (2155 Grimshaw Road). Tickets are free for Franklin residents, and non-residents are welcome at a cost of $10 per adult and free for children.
Come see Santa
Bring your little ones to meet the man at La Boutique Fermiere (45 Lambton Street, Ormstown) from noon until 4 p.m. on December 21.
Give blood
There will be a blood drive in Hemmingford on Friday, January 3, from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the recreation centre (550 Goyette). Make your appointment at hema-quebec.qc.ca or call 1-800-343-7264.
Subscription reminder
There’s so much going on, it’s easy to forget to renew your Gleaner, so here is your friendly reminder. A subscription also makes a great gift for your person who loves or misses the Valley. You could also get your last-minute subscriptions at the Gleaner table at the Farmers’ Market in Saint-Anicet.
More than the cookies are smiling
As a result of the recent Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign in Huntingdon, $9,426 will be donated to La Bouffe Additionnelle and to Tim Hortons camps. Thank you to Tim Hortons Huntingdon – the second-best sellers in the Greater Montreal area, apparently!
