Zap those winter blues

Crossfit, baseball, walking, rugby, basketball, Beavers/Scouts, fitness, badminton, soccer, pickleball… The CVR Community Learning Centre winter/spring indoor activities have begun, and the full schedule is available on the Chateauguay Valley Regional High School Facebook page. You can also call Megan L’Heureux at 514-796-2795 or email mlheureux@nfsb.qc.ca for information.

Zumbathon (and on)

There will be a “Zumbathon” fundraiser at the Ormstown rec centre (94 Roy Street) on February 9, as part of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. It costs $25 to take part, which includes 1.5 hours of Zumba, a smoothie, a photobooth, and more. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and Zumba starts at 6 p.m. For 13 years and older. Search “Zumbathon Ormstown” on Facebook for the event page.

Winter’s Eve(s) of Music

Two dates remain in this series of musical evenings in Hemmingford: February 9 (theme: Love is in the Air) and March 15 (theme: Hemmingford’s Talented Youth, ages 0-17). These take place at 476 Frontiere Street in Hemmingford. Registration for the open mic starts at 6:30 p.m. and performances begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

Snappy service

Did you know you can jump on the MRC bus to Valleyfield at seven different Ormstown stops, or eight spots in Huntingdon? Add four departure times throughout the day and you’ve got a pretty sweet bus-riding deal – and it’s free! Find maps and sechedules at: mrchsl.com/en/services/transport. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the “a consulter” or “to consult” section; there, you can click on maps, schedules, and other info.

MRC Culture Days are coming

Aaaah… and the theme this year is “Calm.” And so, work submitted for the MRC’s annual group art exhibition and photography competition later in the year must have a link to “calm.” More info is available on the MRC website under “culture.” Take a deep breath… and… begin.

Jobseekers

Save the dates for the MWCN’s job fairs happening on March 5 in Huntingdon and March 7 in Hemmingford. See ad below.

Get ready for rugby

Sign up for Saracens indoor rugby training! It starts in February, for children ages 4-14 as well as men and women 18+. Details are available on social media and at saracens.ca.
