Huntingdon Legion election

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #81 will be holding its election of officers and executive committee members on Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. All members in good standing who have paid their annual membership are invited to attend.

Check out the Hemmingford Market

The market returns to Hemmingford’s recreation centre (550 Goyette Avenue) on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A variety of artisanal items and local produce will be on offer. If you need information, or want to become a vendor, you can email loisirs@villagedehemmingford.ca.

Saint-Jean festivities in Saint-Anicet

On June 24, at the Cercle des Loisirs park (2315 Montée de Cazaville), there will be lots of family activities starting at 1 p.m. At 5 p.m., enjoy a show by regional entertainers Les Pops. It’s going to swing in Saint-Anicet, so get ready to celebrate! More information can be found on the Municipalité de Saint-Anicet Facebook page.

Party time in Franklin

Franklin is also going all out for the Fête Nationale on Saturday, June 24, at Parc Antoine-Labelle. The fun starts at 1 p.m. with too many activities to list here, though we will mention the dance competition! Check out the Municipalité de Franklin Facebook page for more information.

Blood drive

There will be a blood drive on Tuesday, June 27, from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at HAECC, 24 York Street in Huntingdon. Make your appointment at hema-quebec.qc.ca or 1-800-343-7264.

It’s strawberry time!

Seasonal delight awaits you at the Strawberry Social on Thursday, June 29, at MacDougall Hall (17 Lambton Street, Ormstown) from 5 to 8 p.m. to benefit St-Paul’s United church. Treats are takeout only; cost for adults is $8 and $5 for children aged 5-10.

Ye who explore yon river’s realm:

If you love our regional rivers and ecosystems, and you strive to record their magnificence and/or their tiny hidden treasures, there’s a contest for you. Send in those photos or videos depicting elements of our dear Chateauguay River and its tributaries to the “Concours J’Aime Ma Riviere” put on by SCABRIC, the watershed conservation society. Information and registration can be found on the OBV SCABRIC Facebook page; deadline is June 30. Celebrate “Juin, mois de l’eau” where the waters flow…

Next HHW collection

The second collection of household hazardous waste (HHW) for MRC residents will take place on Saturday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the municipal garage of Très-Saint-Sacrement, 1539 Fertile Creek Road. Only household products will be accepted. Any agricultural, industrial, or commercial waste, tires, or medication will be refused. Further info can be found on the MRC website.
