It’s strawberry time!

Seasonal delight awaits you at the Strawberry Social on Thursday, June 29, at MacDougall Hall (17 Lambton Street, Ormstown) from 5 to 8 p.m. to benefit St-Paul’s United church. Treats are takeout only; $8 for adults and $5 for children aged 5-10.

Canada Day hours for area health services

The CISSSMO’s holiday closures for Friday, June 30 are as follows: the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown, the Anna-Laberge hospital in Chateauguay, and the Suroit hospital in Valleyfield are closed both days, including for blood testing and imaging, but their emergency departments remain open. The Huntingdon CLSC reception and nursing services will be available from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, except for blood tests and psychosocial services which are closed. The Saint-Chrysostome CLSC will be closed.

Farmers’ markets in Saint-Stan

There will be a special Huntingdon County Farmer’s Market in Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka from 3 to 6 p.m. on June 30 at the Résidence St-Stan (206 Rue Principale). Another market follows on July 7 in Parc Baie-des-Brises (Rue Centrale).

River explorers

If you love our rivers and ecosystems, and you strive to record what you see, send in those photos or videos depicting elements of the Chateauguay River and its tributaries to the contest “J’Aime Ma Riviere” put on by SCABRIC, the watershed conservation society. Information and registration can be found on the OBV SCABRIC Facebook page; deadline is June 30.

The July 1st Annual Chicken BBQ is coming up!

The Women’s Auxiliary – Dames Auxiliaires -Hopital Barrie Memorial volunteers will be preparing takeout meals from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ormstown Curling Club on Canada Day. Reservations are needed; call Louise Rollin at 450-921-2004 or Jacqueline Bourgoin at 450 829 2684. Price is $20.

Great live music

Brysonville Schoolhouse Revisited is back on Friday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Gigzz Music-Resto in Ormstown (31 Bridge Street).

HHW collection

The second collection of household hazardous waste (HHW) for MRC residents will take place on Saturday, July 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the municipal garage of Tres Saint-Sacrement, 1539 Fertile Creek Road. Only household products will be accepted. Any agricultural, industrial, or commercial waste, tires, or medication will be refused. Further info can be found on the MRC website.

Ice Cream Sundae Social

Ice cream, cake, toppings, and drinks round out the menu at the Huntingdon United church on Thursday, July 13, from 5 to 9 p.m. Adults can spoon up a treat for $10; youngsters aged 5 to 12 dig in for $5, and under 5 are free. Takeout available.

The Hemmingford Market returns…

… To the recreation centre (550 Goyette Avenue) on Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artisans, farmers, cider, baked goods, maple products… they’ll all be there! Tables available; contact loisirs@villagedehemmingford.ca.
